When the Tomatoes Drop (and Other Juggled Things)

You know those moments—an unexpected email, a last-minute school request, a spilled drink, or a message you missed—that stop you in your tracks. Your shoulders drop, you let out a deep sigh, and your spirit takes a hit. We all have them.

As a busy mum of four, juggling three jobs, running Muddy Church, and trying to keep all the plates spinning (or in my case, tomatoes—no one else in my house seems to eat them!), I’m used to multitasking. I thrive on it, actually. But sometimes, despite all the planning and colour-coded calendars, something slips through. A missed email on one of my four accounts, or a forgotten 50p for school, and I’m reminded that I’m human—and life doesn’t always go to plan.

This time of year should be about winding down: holidays, rest, breathing space. But not for us—yet. We’re gearing up for a week-long, full-day summer camp for local children. And just three days after that ends, we’re heading off on a mission trip to Albania to support another children’s camp. Then it’s straight back home and back to work!

It’s a full-on season—but what an incredible opportunity. To share God’s story, to get messy (likely sweaty!), and to make lasting memories. My bones might ache, but I know my heart will be overflowing with stories and joy.

The challenge? My bank balance doesn’t quite share the same enthusiasm.

While I’m deeply thankful to be able to use annual leave to serve at these camps, this season always brings with it the tension of checking the Muddy Church budget. We don’t receive any formal funding or wages—every resource, every bit of work, is supported through generous donations.

That’s why I’m launching a small fundraiser.

If you’ve ever downloaded a resource, shared a post, or used something we’ve created—would you consider supporting us financially, even with a small one-off donation? Or perhaps becoming a regular supporter?

My dream has always been to make Muddy Church resources freely available—so no one is excluded because of their financial situation. But that only works because of community. We give when we can, help each other in need, and trust that God provides in abundance.

Could I ask you for a favour?

  • Would you consider donating to support Muddy Church today?

  • Would you pray with us for God's provision—for the camps, the resources, and our ongoing work?

  • If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram, would you LIKE a post and add just two words in a comment? That small action helps more people find us through the algorithms.

"Thank you" can sound like a cliché. But please know, from the bottom of my heart, it’s not. It’s genuine gratitude—for reading this far, for caring, for showing up.

With love and thanks,Lucie
